[ the thing is: they've already got her. she's already been shuffled away, poked and prodded and handcuffed, lead away through crowds and the city. she's still wanted, of course. no update on that - why would there be? the less information there is for the rest of the group, the better. it keeps them scattered, keeps them paranoid. smokescreens as far as the eye can see.

"if they get you" makes her laugh, a little. a dry, humorless chuckle she can't hold back. she has no choice. by the time dave says that, the government building they've pushed her into has given way to a medical room and a chair with straps. it's the hardest thing to do, sitting in it.

she responds anyway, because the only thing keeping her in her body right now is his voice. ]

[ and like the ending to an old video game, their telepathic link cuts there, as if their hands have let go of each other. jade fades away, the last lingering emotion she leaves behind ringing true still. trust.
